In 2018.  NEDC received a Merit Award from the Texas Economic  Development Council for Resiliency in the Aftermath and Recovery from Harvey. Though the City was devastated in many areas, the businesses continued to thrive and the NEDC was able to secure many new businesses.

In 2019 NEDC received a Merit Award from the Texas Economic Development Council for Business Expansion and Business Retention.  In 2019, there were more than 5 businesses that opened a second location or they purchased the building they previously leased. It is an exciting time when NEDC can grow our businesses and the businesses want to expand in the City.
